A Little FRIENDly Challenge

Hi there and happy Monday!  Today I have a special card to share!  I have two GREAT stampy friends who someday I hope to meet and stamp with in real life, but until that time we have decided to stamp "together" by participating in our own challenges!  Those two friends are Becky Carafa and Lisa Henke.  Becky's first challenge to us was to use Alphabet dies/stamps on our card or project.  FUN!

I used the MFT Guest Designer Sketch for November and combined it with the Paper Crafts Alphabet Stickers Challenge.  The stamp set I used is Say What by MFT.  The Die-namics I used on my card are Peek-a-Boo Squared, Sentiment Strips, By the Letters Uppercase and Hearts a Plenty on the inside.  I also rounded all of the corners with my Corner Chomper.

The I {heart} You sentiment was masked so I could stamp the words in Midnight Muse and the heart in Real Red ink.  The letters were cut from Wild Cherry cardstock and were run through my paper crimper for some texture.  A little twine and some adhesive gems finish the card.  All of the patterned papers are Authentique Original 6x6.

Here is the Guest Designer sketch:

I've slowly been adding to my scrapbooks thanks to MFT and decided today that I'm going to do an album for my oldest of all the pictures I take of her and all of her friends.  I know she will cherish it someday.  I will include traditional 12x12 pages and some Project Life type pages, whatever scrapbooking mood I happen to be in that day :)

Anywho....I used the Project Life layout today (MFTPL1) because I had many pictures I wanted to use and my 4x6's were too big for the other layout.  I'll list the stamp sets and Die-namics I used as we go along!  So sit back, relax and enjoy!

Here's the sketch:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the whole page in it's entirety.  I did leave out the element from the sketch for the upper right corner because I didn't want to cover up the photo.  The 3x4 pictures in the center were two 4x6 photos that I just merely cut in half to fit in the spaces.  The two outer pics was actually one picture with both girls peeking out from either side of the tree.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the upper left pocket.  I used the High Rise Uppercase and High Rise Lowercase Die-namics for the words.  The circle/sentiment was made with Behind the Camera Die-namics and Stamp set.  The film strip was made with the Mini Film Strip Die-namics.  The two notched flags were made with the Fishtail Flags STAX and the Fishtail Flags Layers STAX.  The patterned paper is Crate Paper On Trend.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is my favorite picture.  These girls are beauties for sure!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the center picture.  It was a 4x6 but I cut it in half to make two 3x4's. The word Friend was cut using the High Rise Upper and Lower alphabet.  I added three letters to each picture and finished each with an arrow from Lead the Way Die-namics.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This the lower left pocket.  The top three words are from Pretty Pocket and were cut out with the smallest die from Fishtail Flags STAX.  The bottom sentiment is from Behind the Camera and was cut out with the new Howdy Frames Die-namics.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And finally the camera from Behind the Camera Stamp set and Die-namics and some more of the Mini Film Strip Die-namics.

I hope you get the chance to play along with this new monthly feature from MFT!!

It's Your Birthday {SSSC170}

Hi there!!  It's time again for Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch!  This week's sketch is a goodie!!  I hope you get a chance to play along!  If you do, don't forget to add a link to your card on Karen's blog for a chance to be the Sweet Sunday Sketch Guest!

Speaking of Guests, our Sweet Sunday Sketch Guest this week is Mindy Backes!!  Welcome Mindy!!

My card today uses two FABULOUS new sets from MFT, Howdy and Western Backgrounds, both by Lisa Johnson Designs.  My card uses no patterned paper...just Western Backgrounds!  The birthday sign was cut out using the new Die-namics Howdy Frames and was hung from the smaller Framing Flourishes Die-namics with some metal rings.  The stars were made with the Star STAX.  Peeking out from behind the main image panel is the Western Star Border Duo.  It was layered with some beautiful lace trim and some Hemp Cord.  The smaller star was finished with a Hemp Cord tied Sno Cone Button.

My card today was TOTALLY inspired by this gorgeous card by Lisa Johnson.  I just love the yellow sunflower against the wood plank!  I used Lisa's new set Howdy along with the new Western Backgrounds, the new Die-namics Sunflower, Howdy Frames, Simply Scallops, Circle STAX, Traditional Tags STAX and the little flower from the Notched Tag Die-namics.  Some Hemp Cord and tiny brads finish the card.

I have two projects to share with you today.  The first is a scrapbook layout and the second is a tag, each using the same products!  This post is picture heavy so I'll get right to it!!

I got scrappy for my project and pulled out some old Christmas pictures of my girls from about eight years ago.  I used the new sets from Laina Lamb Designs, Document It December and Journal It Top Ten.  I also used the following Die-namics:  Accent It Flags and Tags, Insert It 3x4, Howdy Frames (for the date), High Rise Alphabet Uppercase, High-Rise Alpha Lowercase, Fishtail Flags Layers STAX, Jumbo Fishtail Banner STAX and 3/8" Rosette.  The patterned paper is October Afternoon Holiday Style 8x8.

Here is the left page:

This is a close up of the High Rise Alpha Uppercase and Lowercase, plus the numbers from Document It December which were cut out with the new Howdy Frames.

Accent It Flags and Tags Die-namics was used to cut out the sentiments from Document It December down the left side of the page.

This is the 3/8" Rosette.  I topped it with a Santa tag made using Document It December and Accent It Flags and Tags Die-namics.

A closer look at the Rosette:

This is the page on the right side of the layout.

For this element I used the new Fishtail Flags Layers STAX, Accent It Flags and Tags Die-namics and an assortment of words from Document It December.  It was topped with a Red Hot Button and some Hemp Cord.

I used the Insert It 3x4 Die-namics and stamped it with the notebook image from Journal It Top Ten.  My girls' names was stamped using the Typewriter Alphabet.  "Christmas 2004" comes from Document It December.  The little arrow was made with Lead the Way Die-namics.  The 3/8" Rosette Die-namics was used for the small rosette.  To make it small, once I diecut the patterned paper I cut it in half before folding.  It was finished with a Red Hot Button.

I had an extra Santa tag and didn't want it to go to waste, so I added it to the corner of the picture along with a couple of Red Hot Buttons.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While I had all of the supplies out on my desk I decided to make a tag.  I used Document It December, Accent It Flags and Tags and the following Die-namics:  Traditional Tags STAX and 3/8" Rosette.
